Leland "Sonny" Lester Haeuser

Leland (Sonny) Haeuser, 92, of Cochrane died peacefully October 10, 2024 with family. 

 

Leland was born on February 11, 1932 in the Town of Cross to Edwin and Elsie (Lorenz) Haeuser. He attended grade school in Eagle Valley and graduated from Cochrane High School in 1950.

 

Leland enlisted in the Navy in 1950 and served the majority of his time overseas, on the USS John R Craig, during the Korean War. After his discharge he returned to Cochrane and worked with his brother Merlin raising Jersey cattle. Leland was an excellent mechanic and machinist doing the majority of maintenance on the farm. 

 

After retirement in 2001 he moved to the cabin he built on the hill. He lived there until he returned to the farm due to health issues.

 

Leland is survived by his sister Ruth Olson, sister-in-law Vivian Haeuser and many nieces and nephews. 

 

Leland was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Donald, Merlin and Carrol, sisters Ruby Sloop and Rhoda Grebe and brother & sister in laws Marvin Sloop, Marvelle Haeuser, Robert Grebe and Donald Olson.
