Lenora was the daughter of the late A.V. Norton and Myrtle Dorothy Phillips Norton, and was the seventh of eleven children. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings: Donnell Norton, Hugh Norton, Wayne Norton, Jerry Norton, Louise Berry, Betty Whittington, Gloria Dozier, and Joyce Cook.
A woman of strong Baptist faith, Lenora was deeply devoted to her church community. She was an active member of Penia Baptist Church until her health no longer allowed her to attend. Professionally, she retired as a Bond Manager from Norton Insurance Associates of Atlanta.
She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Charles Cape. She also leaves behind her children: Todd Cape (Judy) of Braselton, Georgia; Alan Cape (Karen) of Roswell, Georgia; Joy Provost (Steve) of Birmingham, Alabama; and Shane Cape (Julie) of Decatur, Georgia. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Lindsey Ammons (Nathan), Evan Cape, Hannah Di Scola (Jordan), Sidney Cape, and Samantha Cape. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Her surviving siblings include James H. "Jim" Norton (Lynn) of Valrico, Florida, and Jack Norton (Melanie) of Murfreesboro, Tennessee. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Leslie Philpot, and her brother-in-law, Wiley Cook.
Lenora was devoted to her family and took great joy in cooking for them - and for anyone with a hearty appetite. She was especially known for bringing at least one dessert (often three) to every family gathering.
The family suggests for those that desire to make memorial contributions to Penia Baptist Church, 3738 Old Penia Road, Cordele, GA 31015.
