Leo J. Brennan

Leo J. Brennan, age 64, passed away peacefully, after a courageous battle with cancer on Friday, February 23, 2024, at his home in East Walpole, Massachusetts, surrounded by his loving family.  Born in Boston, Massachusetts on July 8, 1959, he was the son of the late Arthur Francis and Jane Ann "Jean" (Stewart) Brennan.   Leo spent his early years in the West Roxbury neighborhood of Boston before his family settled in East Walpole.   Growing up in East Walpole, Leo first attended the Bird Elementary School before transitioning up to the East Junior High School.  It was during his move-up day that he first met Wendy.   Leo and Wendy's love story continued throughout the years at Walpole High School and following their graduation in 1977, the young couple headed south to make their home together in Dunedin, Florida.

 

Leo and Wendy returned home in 1979, exchanging wedding vows at Blessed Sacrament Church in Walpole on July 7th, and inviting everyone to celebrate with them at Saint Mary's Parish Hall.  Upon returning to Florida as a married couple, Leo pursued his education in the electrical field, earning his electrical license.  After living in Florida for ten years and welcoming two sons, Scott and Sean, Leo moved his family back north, returning to "God's Country" in East Walpole.   He went on to take a position with Anderson Electric in Walpole and continued his education at the Leo Martin Electrical School, earning his master’s license in electrical. Leo then ventured out on his own, forming L.J. Brennan Electrical Contractor which is still in business today.

 

While Leo worked hard, he always put his family first.  As a young Dad, Leo inherited his father’s passion for the sea and loved teaching his sons how to fish, often skippering his boat from the Quincy Yacht Club for a day on the water with Scott and Sean. Leo also had a passion for all the toys such as ATVs and snowmobiles which he loved to ride with his boys and all their friends. By far, Leo's favorite role in life was being a grandfather, earning the nickname "Grumpy."  He loved spending time with his five grandchildren, especially playing with them in his own backyard that he designed for their enjoyment or taking them for a cruise to get ice cream in his 1968 Chevy Impala convertible.

 

Leo never lost sight of his love story with Wendy over the years.  Together, they made a home for their family full of fun, adventure, and love.   The couple enjoyed a special trip to Indian Rocks Beach Florida every May, where Leo could embrace the no shoes, no shirt, no problem attitude with Wendy by his side.

Loving father of Scott P. Brennan and his wife, Courtney, of Franklin, and Sean M. Brennan and his wife, Laura, of East Walpole.

Cherished Grumpy of Jack, Dylan, Benjamin, Blake, and Reese.

Brother of Robert Brennan and his wife, Su, of Maine, Jane Anne Sullivan of Quincy, and predeceased by brothers Arthur (Artie), Stewart, and Paul.

Also survived by his many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.

 

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Leo's Life Celebration on Thursday, February 29th, 2024, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, 48 Common Street, Walpole.

 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Mary's Church, 176 Washington Street, East Walpole on Friday, March 1st, 2024, at 10:00 am.  Interment will follow at Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton.
