Leo M. Glover went to be with the Lord on August 5, 2024, with his family at his side. Leo was born November 29, 1930, in Hall Summitt, Louisiana to Mon T. Glover and Mary Azalee McWilliams.
In 1948, Leo volunteered for the U.S. Navy. During his 4-year term in the Navy, he supported forces in the Korean War flying on patrol planes supporting American troops. In 1952, Leo was discharged from the Navy and returned to Houston where he was employed by Shell Chemical Company where he also attended and graduated from the University of Houston. In December 1953, Leo married Joy White. Then in 1956, Leo joined the Army as an officer and served for the next 20 years. He was stationed at various locations throughout the U.S., Europe, and Southeast Asia. In 1964, Leo was stationed with the 1st Cav helicopter unit in An Khe, Vietnam and a second tour in 1968 at Phu Loi. In 1975, Lt. Colonel Glover retired and relocated to Texas, first in Winnsboro and then in Tyler. He was a deacon at Green Acres Baptist Church.
Leo is survived by his wife, Joy; two children, Terry Glover (Mary Ruth) and DeeAnn Dockins (Dennis); two grandchildren, Hannah Moltz (Charles) and Darth Dockins; and one great-grandchild, Thomas Moltz.
Pallbearers are Darth Dockins, Darryl Kaelin, Terry Glover, Dennis Dockins, Mike Ham, and Scott Butcher.
Services for Leo will be held on Monday, August 12, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Stewart Family Funeral Home with Rev. Kevin Burdette and Rev. Ken Brumley officiating. Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to service. A private burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Minden.
