Leo Goebel, 78, of Vincent died Monday, April 14, 2025 at Fort Dodge Health and Rehab. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 18, 2025 at Foster Funeral and Cremation Center with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery.
Leo John Linus Goebel, son of Magnus and Leona (Thommes) Goebel, was born October 27, 1946 in Le Mars. He graduated from Spalding high school in 1965 and attended Iowa State University. He served briefly in the United States Army. In 1967 Leo married Mary Loutsch. To this union three children were born – Sandy, Joe, and Keith. The couple later divorced. He then married Jacquelyn Blair Gregory on June 27, 1987. Leo had worked for the City of Newell, farmed near Vincent and worked for 25 years for Van Diest Supply Company.
He is survived by daughters, Sandy (Bob) Weldon of Quimby, IA, Sherry (Ray) Girard of Winchester, NH; sons, Joe (Kiane) Goebel of Coon Rapids, IA, Keith (Maylissa) Wells of Cherokee; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings, Bob Goebel of Granville, IA, Diane Jaminet of Remsen, IA, Mary Ann VanSurksum of Pensecola, FL, Don Goebel of Sioux Falls, SD, Leonard Goebel of Olathe, KS and Carol Oolman of Lead, SD.
Leo was preceded in death by his wife, Jackie in 2024; his parents and daughter, Martha Fisher.
He was a past member of the American Legion in Newell and Duncombe and enjoyed a trip on the Brushy Creek Honor Flight. Leo loved collecting Oliver Tractors and belonged to the tractor club and the Good, Bad and Ugly Car Club. He also enjoyed going to car shows and looking at Christmas lights with Jackie.
