Leo Charles Kolafa Sr. passed away Friday, February 24, 2023. He was born on April 15, 1934, to Charles and Martha (Janis) Kolafa in East Bernard. He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers and 3 sisters: Johnny Kolafa and wife Betty, Helen Rihn and husband Jerome, Dorothy Keller and Husband Corky, Antone Kolafa and wife Cecelia and Julie-Mae (Kolafa) Zotyka.
Leo attended Holy Cross Catholic School then attended East Bernard High School. After school, he farmed and ranched, while working at local businesses throughout his life.
Loe was a faithful member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in East Bernard, a member of the Knights of Columbus and KJT. He was also an active member of the East Bernard Volunteer Fire Department in his earlier years.
On June 28, 1958, Leo was wed to Doris Sabrsula of East Bernard at Holy Cross Catholic Church. They were blessed with four children, Leo Jr., Linda Ann, Joyce Marie, and Janice Renee who he dearly loved.
Leo Loved God and Church, his cows and bills and family-all in that order-with all his heart and soul. He was a passionate and loyal friend to many.
Leo is survived by his wife Doris Kolafa, son, Leo Kolafa Jr. and wife Sheila, daughters, Linda Ebert and husband John, Joyce Slanina, Janice Ripple and husband Matt, grandchildren, Jacques Oliver, Jamie Ebert and wife Brook, Lance Kolafa and wife Ashley,
Rachel Ripple, Desmond Traudt and significant other, Lauren Sawey, Lane Kolafa and wife Jordan, great grandchildren, Bella Oliver, Addie Ebert and Walter Ebert. He is also survived by his brother, Charles Kolafa and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, March 7, 2023, at 10:00 A.M. at Holy Cross Catholic Church in East Bernard with burial to follow in Holy Cross Cemetery. Visitation will be from 8:30 Tuesday and the Rosary will begin at 9:00 A.M. Father Charles Otsiwah will officiate.
