James "Leo" McBee, 90, of Oakland, went to his heavenly home to be with his Lord on Sunday, August 10, 2025. Born on September 5, 1934, in Berkeley Springs, WV, he was the son of the late John Glenwood McBee and Evalyn Leona (Clark) McBee.

Leo worked for Naylor's Hardware in the 1950's and 60's, and served in the Army National Guard from 1953 to 1963. He worked for Clem Teets Oil Company, in Terra Alta, West Virginia for 16 years. He then worked at Mettiki Coal for 16 years as a supply clerk, and eventually retired from there.

When he married his love, Patricia Gwen, in 1960, he began attending the Crellin United Brethren in Christ Church, where he later became a member. Leo faithfully served God and the church as a Sunday School Superintendent, Church Board Member, Chairman of the Property Commission, worship leader, choir member, usher, greeter, and various other jobs as needed from time to time.

Leo graduated from Oakland High School in the class of 1951 and he proudly served on Oakland High School reunion committee. He was a volunteer at the Transportation Museum, and donated numerous items to the local museums. He was a member of the Old Timers bowling team and enjoyed keeping up with friends at the Oakland and Crellin senior centers. Leo loved antiques and yard sale bargains. He delighted in being able to supply friends with hard-to-find items from his inventory.

Among many other things, Leo will be remembered for his cherished garden and his love of sharing his bounty with family and friends. He was also known for excellent memory and his witty sense of humor.

He is survived by his daughter, Gwen Evans and husband Mel of Oakland; granddaughters, Brianna Graham and husband Austin, and Bethany Wesolowski and husband Zach, both of Oakland; great grandsons, Oscar Reid and Judah James Graham; a great granddaughter arriving in November. He is also survived by a sister in law, Cosette Harman and husband Edgar; a brother in law, Allan DeWitt; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Patricia Gwen McBee; his son, James Leo "Jimmy" McBee; brother, Ken McBee; and sister in law, Thelma Rae DeWitt.

Friends will be received at the Fredlock & Fenner Funeral Homes, P.A. - Oakland, 21 N 2nd St., Oakland, on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM. A funeral service will be held in the Crellin United Brethren in Christ Church, 65 Otterbein St., Oakland on Thursday, August 14, 2025 at 11 AM with Pastor Ed Calhoun officiating, assisted by Michael Mudge. Interment will follow in the Garrett County Memorial Gardens.
