Leola Jane Dillon, age 81 of Indianapolis passed away on Sunday afternoon, March 2, 2025 with loving family by her side.
Leola was born on July 16, 1943 in Durant, Oklahoma, a daughter of Charles W. and Frances P. (Odom) Burgess. She is preceded in death by her parents.
Leola was the second of four girls. She is survived by her three sisters: Carolyn Angel of Indianapolis, Kathy (husband Bob) Durham of Greenfield, Indiana, and Marchelle (husband Bob) Brunelle of Indianapolis.
Leola was married to Clifford Dillon. He preceded in death on December 11, 2020.
Together Clifford and Leola have one son: Roger (wife Christine) Dillon of Fishers, Indiana.
Three grandchildren: Jacob (wife Anna) Dillon of Carmel, IN, Jessica Dillon of Indianapolis, and Luke (wife Jamie) Dillon of Fort Wayne, IN
Many nieces, nephews, other family members and relatives survive.
Leola grew up Indianapolis on the Eastside. She graduated from Scecina High School in 1961. After high school she began her professional career as a utility clerk for the Indiana Bell telephone company. She retired from Indiana Bell in 1992.
She attended Cornerstone Baptist Church. Over the years Clifford and Leola enjoyed many trips to Florida.
Leola loved poodles, shopping, manicures, and Elvis Presley. She also greatly enjoyed going out to lunch with family and friends.
Leola was a loving mother, sister, and grandmother who cared deeply about her family. She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 6, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East Funeral Center, located at 10722 E. Washington Street, Indianapolis, IN 46229.
Her funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM. Pastor Rick Salazar will officiate.
Burial will follow at Washington Park East Cemetery where Leola will be laid to rest with her husband Clifford Dillon.
