Leon Jourolmon of Watkinsville Georgia, passed away on October 9th, 2025 at the age of 85 surrounded by loving family. He is survived by his wife Bonnie of 60 years, 3 children Leon Jourolmon IV (Jeannie) of Elberton, GA, Meredith Soldatovic (Mick) of Melbourne, Australia, and Brooke Berryman (Phil) of Collierville, TN, 9 grandchildren Emma Hart (Cole), Luke Berryman, Joe Berryman, Stefan Soldatovic, Eva Jourolmon, Nikolas Soldatovic, Ellie Jourolmon, Sarah Berryman and Eli Jourolmon and 2 great granddaughters (Dani and Halle Hart). He was predeceased by his mother and father, Robert Leon and Martha Jourolmon and his sister Barry Jourolmon McKean (Steve) of Anchorage, Alaska. His surviving sister Myvanwy Shirley (Frank) resides in Vaughn, Washington.
He lived Kipling’s line "If you can fill the unforgiving minute / With sixty seconds' worth of distance run”. Leon graduated from Portland State University with a degree in accounting. Later he got his MBA from Georgia State University. He retired from Southeastern Power Administration having worked for the federal government for 40 years.
Most of his volunteer work was related to the Methodist Church where he served as a Lay Speaker, Sunday School teacher, and delegate to Annual Conferences and the General Conference. He was also a very active member of the Rotary Club.
From about the age of six music was his great joy always finding a church choir to sing in. His tenor voice was always welcome. Barbershop, Gospel, and show tunes were his favorite types of music. Until recently he sang in the Chapelwood Methodist Chancel Choir, the Athens Choral Society, a Barbershop Choir and a Barbershop Quartet.
Leon and his wife Bonnie loved to travel and he had visited all 50 states. They traveled to Canada, England, Scotland, Wales, Italy, France, Australia, Israel, Egypt, Turkey, Greece, Serbia, Slovenia, and Spain.
Celebration of his life will be held at 2:00 pm on 1st of November 2025 at Chapelwood Methodist Church, Athens, GA. Leon was born in Knoxville and his burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Knoxville, Tennessee.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Chapelwood Methodist Church.
