Rueben Mann

Reuben Thomas Mann, 82, passed peacefully at his home in Clarkesville, GA the morning of October 25, 2025.
Tom, a Georgia native, was born April 1, 1943 to parents Thomas Franklin Mann and Marion Murray Mann Carter.
He was raised in Jonesboro and Forest Park, later attending West Georgia and graduating from Georgia State University in 1966.
Tom, affectionately known as Tommy by colleagues and co-workers, was employed by R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company for over 25 years, retiring in 1993.
Tom married the love of his life, another Georgia native, Phyllis Johnson Mann, in November of 1970. Residing in Decatur, Stone Mountain, and Suwanee while married, after Phyllis passed in 2002, Tom found The Orchard in Clarkesville, GA and soon called it home. Tom was also preceded in death by his father Thomas Mann and his mother Marion Murray Carter (A.W. Carter).
Tom was blessed to establish and maintain many friendships wherever he worked and lived, comforted in his later years by fond memories of joy filled days with friends, many of which he knew for 50+ years and in some cases since high school. This continued in The Orchard, where he resided for over 20 years, making new friendships and spending time with many wonderful people in all seasons of life.
Tom was a sports fan, not the least of which being the teams at Georgia Tech. Having played football at Forest Park School, Tom was partial to The Flats; however, he followed many GT sports and was an avid Braves and Falcons fan through the years as well. Tom was also a fan of golf and enjoyed playing most of his life. This added to the appeal of The Orchard and, along with being a loving community, made it a great place for Tom to spend the retired years of his life.
Tom is survived by his son, BJ Mann, and daughter-in-law Jody Born Mann along with many dear friends he considered family.
Not considering himself a religious man, Tom was a man of Christian faith, with a heart for God and a generous spirit.
Cremation is being handled by McDonald Family Funeral Homes. There are no plans for a service in the near term. A celebration of life gathering is planned for the Spring; likely at The Orchard. An announcement will be forthcoming.
