He was born in Phillipsburg, New Jersey, a son of the late Leon J. II and Helen Wilson Matlock. Leon was educated in Phillipsburg and spent his working career as a custodian for the Easton Area School District.
Leon was of the Catholic faith and enjoyed camping at the Promised Land & having nature outside his home. He had a beautiful pond with many fish. He loved interacting with nature's animals from birds to bears. He would feed them from the palm of his hand's many times.
Preceding him in death in addition to his parents was his brother, Kenny Matlock.
Surviving is his wife, the former Carol Nodoline Matlock of Pocono Lake, son, Leon J. Matlock IV of Long Pond, daughters, Laura Matlock of Pocono Lake, Shelby Matlock and her companion, Randy Vanhorn of Easton, sisters, Lee Eisley of Phillipsburg, NJ, Terry Griffins also of Phillipsburg, and Deborah Willimson of Easton, grandchildren, Sierra, Laynee, Addison, Joey, Jordon, Jolene and Owen, extended family members.
Services will be private
