Leona H. DeWitt, 94, of Swanton, passed peacefully in her sleep on April 17, 2024, at Peace Health Care at Dennett Road. Born on June 3, 1929, in Beryl, WV, she was the daughter of the late Amnon and Edna Flick.
She was a graduate of Piedmont High School. She was married to "Willie" DeWitt for 44 years and he preceded her in death in 1993. In her younger years, Leona had been active with her children, serving as a 4H leader and a band booster. She also served on Farm Bureau Women's committee and Southern States Women's Board. She was a member of the Deer Park Homemakers club.
She is survived by her six children, Debra Barnard and husband Bill, Donald and wife Leona, Richard and wife Sandy, Lana Beall, William Jr. and Kenneth and companion Marsha. Her legacy also includes 15 grandchildren, Jennifer, Bryan and Bobby Barnard, Bret and Derek DeWitt, Alicia Harvey, Erick and Brandon DeWitt, Seth DeWitt, Nicki DeWitt, Ashley Stein, Travis Tuck, Anna and Will Holtschneider and Kedan DeWitt, and 23 great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Leona was preceded in death by one grandson, Stephen DeWitt, and all of her 7 siblings.
Friends will be received on Saturday, April 20, 2024, from 11 AM to 1 PM at the C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N. Second St., Oakland. A funeral service will be held at 1 PM, in the funeral home with Pastor Barbara Rexroad officiating. Interment will follow in the Deer Park Cemetery.
