Leona Mae Totland, 89, passed away June 23, 2022, at Hester Care Center-Wesley Towers, Hutchinson, KS. She was born December 26, 1932, in Goessel, KS, to Leonard and Helen (Schroeder) Schmidt.
Leona loved working outdoors in the yard. She was an accomplished 'jigsaw puzzle solver', and a skillful 'furniture refinisher'. Leona enjoyed attending both musical theatre and sporting events. She loved her friends, her family, and her God with all her heart.
On June 12, 1955, Leona married Jack Eldon Totland, in Tecumcari, NM. They shared over 45 years of marriage, prior to his death on April 26, 2001.
She is survived by: her children, Steven (Meryl Friedman) Totland of Van Nuys, CA, and Tammy Totland of Hutchinson, KS; siblings, Elva Unruh, Norman (Shirley) Schmidt, Arlene (Wilbur) Besore, and Louella (J.B.) Ensz; and sister-in-law, Gayle Schmidt.
Leona was preceded in death by: her parents; husband; and siblings, Allen Schmidt, Norma Jean Schmidt, and Vernon Schmidt.
Funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Monday, June 27, 2022, at Elliott Mortuary, with Pastor Karen Dalke officiating. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson, KS. Friends may call from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, and from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday, at Elliott Mortuary. Click here to view the funeral service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Hospice & HomeCare of Reno County, or Cancer Council of Reno County, in care of Elliott Mortuary and Crematory, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
