Leonard Tory Dunn was born on May 3, 1977, and passed from this life on September 6, 2025. A proud patriot, Leonard deeply loved his country and lived with conviction, loyalty, and a sense of adventure.
Leonard was an avid outdoorsman, happy when hunting, fishing, or camping in his camper. Nature brought him peace, and he never passed up a chance to escape into it. He was also a passionate gun enthusiast, both a skilled marksman and a dedicated collector. Time at the gun range was a favorite pastime, where he honed his skills and took pride in maintaining his firearms.
A true sports fan, Leonard cheered for the Oklahoma Sooners during football season, followed the New York Giants, and was a loyal Oklahoma City Thunder supporter during basketball season. When it came to food and family, Leonard was in his element. He loved smoking meats for gatherings and was always ready to fire up the smoker for a good meal and good company.
Leonard was also a fan of sci-fi and action movies. He never missed a DC movie premiere, was a die-hard Superman fan, and loved Star Trek. He often turned to worship and country music during his downtime, finding strength and peace in both. His faith was a constant, and he stayed spiritually connected through music and daily devotion.
A self-proclaimed foodie, Leonard loved exploring new restaurants. Two of his favorites were Kendall's in Noble - especially for the cinnamon rolls and chicken fried steak - and Tarahumara's in Norman.
Leonard graduated from James Madison High School and later worked as a Field Quality Representative in the Utilities Department for the City of Oklahoma City, a role he held with dedication for eight years.
At a young age, he was incredibly active, advancing in Tae Kwon Do. Leonard earned a brown belt and was well on his way to achieving his black belt. He took pride in maintaining his physical health.
Known for his orneriness and quick wit, Leonard loved to tease and joke with his loved ones. Though he could seem stoic or stubborn, those closest to him knew he was a teddy bear at heart, fiercely loyal, deeply protective, and always ready with a warm hug or a strong word of support.
He loved a good debate and never backed down from a difference of opinion, though not out of pride, but because he valued thought and discussion. Leonard had a deep love for storytelling, often entertaining family and friends with tales, laughter, and food. One of his son, Aaron's, most cherished memories was learning from his dad how to ride a motorcycle.
Above all, Leonard cherished family. Becoming a grandfather brought him immense joy, and any excuse to gather his loved ones brought a smile to his face. He found purpose in those moments, surrounded by the people he loved, sharing a meal and a smile.
Leonard was a member of Victory Family Church in Newcastle, where he continued to nurture his faith.
He is survived by his beloved wife of eight years, Jennifer; children Richard Riley and his wife, Shailey; Aaron Riley and his wife, Kamiron; Taylor Dunn and partner, Hunter Sherman; Chloe "Isaac" Dunn; Zachary Grizzle; and Addison Grizzle; as well as his cherished grandchildren: Randy, Aiden, Tegan, Noah, Grayson, Atraeus, and Ember.
He also leaves behind his siblings: Jackie Alcorn and her husband, James; Melanie Rackley and her husband, Mike; Heather Austin and partner, Joe Burton; Desirae Dunn; and Charlene Schmidt and her husband, Chris; along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Leonard is preceded in death by his loving parents, Jimmie Lee and Lorene Geneva Dunn.
Leonard's legacy is one of strength, faith, family, and love. He lived life on his terms - boldly, with passion and integrity - and he will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
