Leonard Eugene Horst, 82, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away, Friday, October 18, 2024, at his home.
Born Monday, February 9, 1942, in Maugansville, MD, he was the son of the late Daniel H. Horst and the late Florence (Lehman) Horst. He was also preceded in death by his first wife Elsie Mae Horst.
He was a self employed farmer for 22 years and later was employed with Martins Elevator retiring after 22 years. Leonard was a member of Maugansville Church. He was also a Chaplain for the Maugansville Volunteer Fire Department and the Washington County Fireman's Assn. for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Ellen Marie Horst, daughter, Darla Mae Mellott and husband Scott, sons, DeWayne Eugene Horst and wife Connie, Arlin Lee Horst and Leavitt Ray Horst, Sr., brother, Richard Daniel Horst and wife Anna Mae, eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Lynn Elwood Horst and a brother, Charles Lester Horst.
Services will be held Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at 10:00 am, at the Maugansville Church, 17904 Binkley Avenue Maugansville, MD, with the Pastor Chad Carter officiating.
Family will receive friends at the Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown, MD on Monday, October 21, 2024 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
Interment will be at the Reiff Mennonite Church Cemetery, Hagerstown, MD.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
