Leonard C. Knipstein, 81, of Columbia City, Indiana passed away Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at home surrounded by family. Born March 29, 1943, in Hoagland, Indiana he was a son of the late Otto and Louise (Bieberich) Knipstein.
He graduated from Arcola High School with the Class of 1961. Leonard proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. He was a lifelong farmer and was a member of National Tractor Pullers Association. Leonard owned and operated Arcola Engine Services for over 50 years. He has been a lifelong member of Suburban Bethlehem Lutheran Church. On November 3, 2001, he married Pearl (Kuhl) Rynski at Suburban Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
Leonard's life was marked by a profound passion for a variety of pursuits. He found great joy in woodworking, where he honed his skills to create beautiful and lasting pieces. His love for gardening and fishing at the lake were pastimes providing him joy and peace. Leonard was an avid follower of Indiana University basketball, cheering on his team with fervor and loyalty.
Beyond his hobbies, Leonard had a particular fondness for the simple pleasure of Coney Island coney dogs, which brought him great joy and served as a delicious reminder of his childhood.
Leonards legacy will be remembered through the warmth he brought into the lives of those around him. He touched many with his generosity and cheerful disposition, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of family, friends, and all who had the honor of knowing him. His presence will be deeply missed, but his memory will forever remain in the minds and hearts of those who loved him.
Leonard is survived by his wife, Pearl; daughters, Jodie (Brock) Williams, and Angela (Arron) Harrell; stepdaughters, Cheryl Larocca, and Lisa (Travis) Hostler; stepson, Thomas (Sara) Rynski; 13 grandchildren; one great grandson; sister, Darlene Stahlhut; sister-in-law, Annette Knipstein; and six nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents Leonard is preceded in death by his brother, LeeAllen Knipstein; and brother-in-law, Donald Stahlhut.
Visitation will be 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Monday, December 2, 2024, at Suburban Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 6318 W California Rd, Fort Wayne. Funeral services will be 10:30 am with visitation from 9:00 am - 10:30 am, Tuesday, December 3, 2024, also at Suburban Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Burial will take place at Suburban Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery. Memorial donations may be given in memory of Leonard to Suburban Bethlehem Lutheran School.
