Leonard Looper, 87, of Dawsonville passed away Wednesday, June 26, 2024.
Born January 20, 1937 to the late Carl and Lorene Looper, he was a lifelong resident of Dawson County. Leonard owned and operated L&M Salvage for 44 years. He was extremely devoted to Ford Motor Company and enjoyed bluegrass music. A member of Lebanon Baptist Church, he was also preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Edith Moore Looper, and a son in law, Sonny Man Crane.
Surviving are his daughters and son in law, Linda Crane, Dawsonville, Karen and Tony Harris, Cumming; brothers, Joe Looper, Marietta, Bill Looper, Dawsonville; grandchildren, Jamie and Terry Allen, Jesse Crane and Natalia Hall, Christopher and Emilie Harris, Jason Harris; great grandchildren, Bethany Harris, Grayson Harris, Zephyr Allen, Graham Baird; and a number of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 29, 2024 at 11 o'clock at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Scott Sorrells will officiate. Interment will following the Silver City Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday from 4 until 8 at the funeral home.

It was a long time ago that I met Leonard Looper when I visited the old Lockheed Nuclear facility in about 1963. Then when I moved to the north Forsyth area in 1993 I met Leonard again and he built many steel tools and fixtures for me. I considered him always to be a good man in every way.
