Leonard W. Matz

Leonard W. Matz, 79, of Surfside Beach, SC, formerly of Schuylkill Haven, PA, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, March 1st, with his loving wife Gwen, daughter Ashley, and faithful companion, Blue, by his side. Lenny's true passion was the owner/grower of Knarr's greenhouses and flowers, where for 30 years, his family and friends helped the business flourish. Lenny eventually retired from Penn State Schuylkill campus.
Lenny is also survived by his sister, Debbie Madrigal and her husband Robert, various in-laws, nieces and nephews, and his lifelong coffee friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brother.
Lenny was a Purple Heart recipient for his service during the Vietnam War.
The family will gather to greet friends in Celebration of Lenny's life, on Tuesday March 5, 2024 from 10:00AM until 11:30AM at Burroughs Funeral Home, 3558 Old Kings Highway, Murrells Inlet, SC 29576.
A second Celebration of Lenny's life will be held at Geschwindt Stabingas Ebling Funeral Home, Inc., 25 E. Main St., Schuylkill Haven, PA on Friday, 3/8 from 11 AM - 1 PM. Interment will follow at Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven, PA.
