In Loving Memory of Leonard McCoin
Leonard H. McCoin, age 76, of Detroit, Texas, devoted husband, incredible father, loving grandfather, and cherished friend, passed away surrounded by loved ones and family. Leonard leaves behind a legacy of kindness, hard work, and unwavering dedication to those he cared for.
He is survived by his beloved wife of over 40 years, Sheilah McCoin, who lovingly stood by his side and took exceptional care of him through every season of life. Leonard was the proud father of three children: Brad McCoin and his wife Jennifer, along with their children Shelby McCoin & Macy, Emilee & Dillion Puckett, Chad & Alyssa Cline, and Chastin Cline, Brian McCoin and his wife Teddi, and their children Haley Schuler McCoin, Kyler & Kennedy McCoin, Bradley & Courtney Brown, and Zach & Megan Brown, his daughter Bethany McCoin, along with her daughters Harmony and Halle Haagensen.
Leonard was more than a stepfather-he was a father figure in every sense to Sheliah's children, whom he loved and raised as his own: Mickey Dickey and his wife Teri (children: Eric, wife Kaila, Cameron, wife Kayla, and Kevin, wife Morgan)Michele Beasley and her husband Mitchell (children: Kristopher Fortner & fiancé Jennifer, Justin & Amanda Renfro ), and Jamie Dickey, affectionately known as "Kickin' Chicken," and his children Jullian, KK, Kenzie and Gunner Dickey. Along with 31 Great-grandchildren.
He also held a special bond with Sam Haagensen-Harmony and Halle's father-who he considered another son, along with Sam's wife Morgan. Leonard welcomed all into his heart and home with open arms.
Professionally, Leonard spent many years at Campbell Soup Company, where he served as a supervisor. To this day, countless coworkers and friends say he was the best supervisor anyone could ever hope for. He also owned and operated a hay business, and some of the family's most treasured memories were made out in those hayfields, working side by side with him.
Leonard was preceded in death by his parents, O.B. and Hettie Lee McCoin; his siblings Willie McCoin, Willa Fay McCoin Dennis McCoin, Luke McCoin, and Wanda Jean Hughes; and his daughter Gayla McCoin. He is also reunited with his two beloved dogs, Track and Dolly, his loyal furry companions who brought him much joy.
Leonard McCoin was a great man-wise, gentle, strong, and full of humor and heart. His love lives on in the many people who were lucky enough to call him Dad, Pops, Papa, friend, or simply Leonard. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
