She was born on January 31, 1943 in Clarksville, Texas to Alma Mathis Doss and Cecil Bryan Doss. She graduated from East Texas State University with Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Elementary Education. She worked for Paris ISD as an Elementary Teacher for 35 years. She loved her students and was an exceptional teacher. She loved to travel with her sister, and they enjoyed many special trips together. Jean was also a gifted artist and taught private art lessons in her home. She loved spending time with her granddaughter, and she was happy they had similar interests. Jean was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma and Texas Classroom Teacher's Association.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister; Sue Provonzie; her brother, C.B. Doss; and a sister-in-law, Carolyn Doss. She is survived by her daughter, Julie Janes and husband Mac Jane; granddaughter, Caroline Janes; son, David Somoza; nieces, Shelly Doss, Suzanne Sheffield.
Jean will be celebrated in a private service.
