Leonard McMillan, Sr., 84, of Lawndale, passed away at Atrium Health Charlotte on September 1, 2024. He was born February 19, 1940, in Gaston County, to the late John Arthur McMillan and Lassie Leigh Buchanan McMillan.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Hayden McMillan (Avis), Earl W. McMillan, Richard McMillan.
He was born in Bessemer City and at the age of 2 the family moved to Crowders Mountain where he grew up. He lived a long and full life. Leonard was a retired fireman of Melbourne, Florida, where he served for 20 years.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Joan Carpenter McMillan; sons, Leonard McMillan, Jr (Doyun)., and John C. McMillan; brothers, James McMillan (Samantha), and Jerry McMillan (Charlotte), sisters, Betty Guffey, and LouAnne McMillan; sister in laws, Shirley McMillan, and Patsy McMillan; grandchildren, Jessica (Jake), Abby, Cassie (Justin), Christopher (Amanda), Jackson, and Alex (Caycie); great grandchildren, Will, and Rilee.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Sisk-Butler Funeral Home on Thursday, September 5, 2024.
Inurnment will be with the family.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial may be made to St. Jude’s.
