MONROE TOWNSHIP – LEONARD ALAN STORCH passed away on Monday, January 30, 2024, at Village Point in Monroe Township. He was 98 years old.
Born in New York, NY, to Joseph and Pauline (née Weisberg) Storch, he resided there before moving to New Jersey in 1952, where he lived in Cranford for over 40 years, and relocated to Monroe Township 20 years ago.
Leonard was a US Army Veteran, serving in World War II from 1943 – 1945, where he was stationed in China, India, and Burma, and fought with the Fighting Tigers and Merrills Marauders.
Prior to retiring, Leonard worked as a Production Manager for Schacht Steel for 27 years.
In his spare time, he was a Master Gardener at Temple Beth El Men's Club, and he was on their Board of Trustees. He loved to travel with his wife, Lillian, to 51 countries. He was an avid tennis player and played tennis until the age of 88. He was also a member of Beit Shalom of Monroe Township.
Leonard is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Pauline Storch; his brother, Paul Ropp; and his sister, Vivian Patino.
Surviving are his wife of 72 years, Lillian (née Wexelblatt) Storch of Monroe Township; his daughters, Amy Solomon and her husband, Wayne, of Schwenskville, PA, and Ellen Storch of Clark; his sister, Judith Heller of Boynton Beach, FL; his granddaughter, Mahabisa "Jessica" Adam; and his three great-grandchildren, Kafira, Zosha, and Meir.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, February 1, 2024, at 11:15 am, at King Solomon Memorial Park, 550 Dwasline Road, Clifton, New Jersey, under the direction of MOUNT SINAI MEMORIAL CHAPELS, East Brunswick. For directions, please see "Event" listed below.
