Funeral services have been scheduled for 2:00 P.M., Friday, September 12, 2025 at the Dowdy-Marker Chapel with Rev. Donald Hogue, Jr. officiating.
Leonard Clay Walker, a cherished father passed away on August 29, 2025, at the age of 96. Born on March 17, 1929 in the small rural area of Skienah, Fannin County, Georgia, Leonard was the second child and oldest son of 13 children of Avery and Dora Cantrell Walker.
From his early days, Leonard was known for his quick wit and friendly demeanor. He moved to Oklahoma at 2 years of age and attended school in several Oklahoma towns of Amber, Chickasha and Alex until the 6th grade, after which he embarked on a life full of varied experiences around the Boynton/Haskell area. Leonard proudly enlisted in the Oklahoma Army National Guard and served in Korea from 1950-1953.
After his service, Leonard's creative spirit led him to become an exceptional welder. He had a particular passion for constructing two-wheel trailers, a skill that combined his precision and inventiveness. His talents extended to his personal workshop, a place of solace and creativity where he spent countless hours tinkering and perfecting his craft. Leonard's ingenuity was apparent in every project he undertook, and his handiwork will be treasured by all who had the pleasure of seeing or owning a piece of his work.
Leonard's spirit of curiosity and love for the community was evident through his frequent visits to various auctions. There, he not only found treasures but also camaraderie and laughter. He was a fixture at these gatherings, known for his friendly banter and the joy he brought to those around him, he also loved fishing and hunting.
Leonard leaves behind his children, Terry Walker of Haskell Ok and Candy Walker (Larry) of Hennessey Ok, his 5 grandchildren; Stephanie Walker, Shawn Walker, Shaianne (Dalton) Holsapple, Crystal Thornton, and Santana Melendez. Also, his 5 great grandchildren; Kylie, Payton, Paxton, Tyler, and Richard, 2 sisters Betty Hill and Patsy Scales and a brother Dodie Walker and many nieces and nephews.
Leonard was preceded in death by his parents Avery and Dora Cantrell Walker, son Randy Walker, 2 sisters Iva Odell and Hattie Boswell, and 7 brothers, Ervin, Gerald, Billy, Leroy, Bobby, David and infant brother Leon Walker.
