Leroy Hinspeter Obituary

Leroy F. Hinspeter died Wednesday, May 10, 2017 in Houston, Texas. He was born December 21, 1925 to Arthur and Florence (Zahm) Hinspeter in Owosso, Michigan.

Leroy was a WWII Navy veteran, serving in the Pacific Theater. He earned a BS in electrical engineering at the University of Michigan. He accepted a position with Dow Chemical and moved to Ludington in 1951. He and Doreen were married in 1952 and spent the next 21 years in Ludington raising their family.

Leroy was a member of Lincoln Hills Golf Club, the Elks, Jaycees, and the Community Church. He was transferred to Cleveland, then Houston where he eventually retired after over 30 years with Dow. Leroy continued an active life of golf including several trips to Scotland. He had fond memories of Ludington with his family and colorful circle of friends at Lincoln Hills.

Leroy was preceded in death by his wife, Doreen (Cole) Hinspeter (2003); his parents, brothers, James and Gerald and sister Rita Chapko. He is survived by his four children, Richard and his wife Maureen of Lakeland, Florida, Anne Van Aelst and her husband John of State College, Pennsylvania, Mark and his wife Nonnie of Troy, Michigan and Carol of Houston, Texas; as well as two grandchildren Kevin and his wife Kim Van Aelst and Heather Van Aelst and one great-grandchild, Gus Van Aelst. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, TX 77079 on Saturday June 3, 2017 at 2pm.
