Leroy Williams, age 78 of Verona, Kentucky, died the morning of October 14, 2025. Leroy was the son of Boyd and Belva Williams. He grew up in Verona with his siblings and lived in his family home all of his life.
As a young boy, Leroy attended school and worked in his parent's market. On long weekends he would camp at Eagle Creek with his siblings. He enjoyed tinkering with mechanics, gaining inspiration from his grandfather and uncle. At just fourteen years old he rebuilt and installed his first motor.
Leroy was hardheaded and stubborn and he was determined. This grit propelled him through his career as a heavy equipment operator, serving the local 18 International Union of Operating Engineers, district 4 and 5. A badge that he was proud of. Friends never tired of hearing his new projects that he had going.
Leroy was devoted to his family. He provided for them and spent time with them. One passion of his was building and racing cars with his son. In his later years he raised his grandson, giving him the same compassion and steadiness as he always inhibited.
Leroy was a man who went with the flow of things, he enjoyed the changing of seasons, and was "in it" for the long haul. His imprint has left a lasting impression and he will be missed.
Preceeding him in death are his parents, his son; Carl Gregory Williams, and his siblings; Charlene Gadd, Bill Williams, Gary and Joyce Williams, and Juanita Williams.
Left to mourn his loss is his wife and highschool sweetheart of 62 years; Brenda (Holt) Williams, sons; Boyd Lee, Darrin Leroy, and Eric Leroy (Darby Smith) Williams, siblings; Ann (Mike) Ferguson, Ruth (Steve) Nelson, and Dorothy Williams, grandchildren; Brandi, Brody, Blair, Grace, Garrett, and great-grandchildren; Briar and Salem.
Please join family for services honoring Leroy on Tuesday, October 21st at the Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, 45 North Main Street, Walton, KY 41094. Visitation from 10:00am-1:00pm with service to begin at 1:00pm. Leroy will be laid to rest at New Bethel Cemetery. Family will host friends for a reception at the Schoolyard Winery.
