Leslie H. Adams, age 91, passed peacefully at his home in Little Elm, Texas, on October 25, entering the loving embrace of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Born on September 2, 1934, in Monroe (New Deal), Texas, just outside of Lubbock, Les grew up alongside his twin brother, Wes; sister, Beverly; and brother, Delaney "Butch," with their parents, Dudley and Lois Adams. The family lived throughout the Lubbock area until 1949, when they moved to Abilene, Texas.
Les proudly served his country in both the Marine Reserves and the U.S. Army during the 1950s. He later returned to Lubbock, where he met the love of his life, Mickye Ward of Slaton, Texas. The two shared 65 wonderful years of marriage.
Les worked for Coca-Cola's Southwest Region for 35 years. A lifelong learner with a deep passion for film history, he formed countless friendships within the movie industry and authored several books and magazines on the subject. His work also included hundreds of newspaper articles and contributions to other well-known authors' publications.
Known for his friendly spirit and easy charm, Les couldn't go anywhere without running into someone he knew or making a new friend. He truly was the Will Rogers of West Texas.
Les is survived by his beloved wife, Mickye; his daughters, Shannon Todd and Jill Adams; his son, Brad Adams; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dudley and Lois Adams, and his brother, Butch Adams.
A Celebration of Life memorial will be held on December 6 at 10:00 a.m. CST at the Episcopal Church of the Heavenly Rest (Gerhart Hall) in Abilene, Texas. https://www.heavenlyrestabilene.org/ Les's earthly remains will eventually be interred in Slaton, Texas.
