Jan Carolyn Hardwick Turner, 80, of Seabrook, Texas passed away peacefully on October 4, 2025. She was born on June 12, 1945, in Burnsville, Mississippi to Evelyn and James Hardwick and graduated from La Marque High School in 1963. She worked at ANICO in Galveston, the Texas City Water District, La Marque Independent School District, Varmicon in Harlingen, and Haldor Topsoe, Inc. in Houston where she met her husband, Jay Turner. They married in 1998.
Jan was very involved with her church, including choir, bell choir, youth group, and various other church organizations. While living in West Virginia, she obtained her certificate in Interior Design from Marshall University. She was an avid gardener, raising hundreds of plumerias and was known for her delicious fig preserves. She was a lifelong seamstress and took up quilting later in life. Her most beloved pastime was bowling. She bowled multiple times per week, traveling across the country to bowling tournaments, even at the age of 80.
Jan is preceded in death by her parents, Evelyn and James Hardwick; her brother, Ronnie Hardwick; and her daughter, Tracey Harper Santiago.
She is survived by her husband, Jay Turner; her daughter, Paige Harper Sikkema and husband Craig; Tracey's husband, Hector; and grandchildren (Tracey's children), Ethan Harper, Mia Santiago, and Noah Santiago; sister, Judy Hardwick and husband Phil Hallmark and niece, Shae Hallmark.
A celebration of Jan's life will be held on November 8 at 10:00 am at Seabrook United Methodist Church at 3300 Lakeside Dr, Seabrook, Texas 77586. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Heart Association or to a charity of choice in Jan's memory.
