Leslie Gene Bacon, deeply beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, died peacefully at home on 6/28/25, surrounded by loved ones. A funeral mass for Les will be held at St. Rose Catholic Church in Longview WA on 8/7 at 11 a.m. with reception to follow at St. Rose Parish Hall.
Les was born in Caldwell, Idaho in 1938, but grew up in Vancouver, WA, where he met the love of his life, Connie Robbins. The two teenagers eloped while still in high school, raised six children together, and moved around the US before eventually settling down in Longview, WA.
After retiring from his career in sales, Les dedicated his time to helping others in his community, volunteering for Meals on Wheels and serving as the president of the St. Vincent de Paul Food Bank for several years.
A man of quiet strength, Les was loving, wise, compassionate, thoughtful, and funny. He was an avid gardener and a sports fan, and could often be found flipping through seed catalogs or cheering on his favorite teams (the Blazers, the Seahawks, and the Mariners).
In the latter years of his life, Les battled dementia with amazing grace and kindness, and never stopped loving those around him. Words cannot express how much he is loved and how greatly he will be missed.
Les is survived by his wife of 68 years, Connie Bacon, his children Connie Witkowski (Mike Witkowski), Terrie Quinn (Doug Quinn), Tina Bacon, Cheryl Watt, Mike Bacon (Susie Bacon), and Jenny Schrock (Jeff Schrock), as well as 21 grandchildren and 43 great grandchildren.
The mass for Les will be held at St. Rose Catholic Church, 2571 Nichols Blvd., Longview WA on 8/7 at 11 a.m. with reception to follow at St. Rose Parish Hall. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St Vincent's de Paul Food Bank.
