LUDLOW, Vt. - Leslie Ann Bard, 55, Beloved wife, mother, Aunt, and friend, of Ludlow, died Saturday morning Jan. 27, 2024 at her residence following a long illness. She was born on Oct 26, 1968, in Stoneybrook, N.Y., the daughter of Irving and Anne (Smith) Koehler. Following her graduation from Centereach high school on Long Island Leslie earned a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting graduating summa cum Laude from New York Institute of Technology. Leslie was a connoisseur of love in life, as an avid reader of romance and the author of three novels of the genre herself, written under the pseudonym L.A. Bryce. Feeling the love in her own life she married Mitchell A. Bard on July 4, 1993. Leslie was a lover of Vermont's mountains and lakes, the snow and water, and enjoyed skiing on both. Leslie was always an activist, doing what she could to support military veterans, PTSD, and the LGBTQ+ community, even taking her children to rallies in Washington DC during their youth. For the past five years she was employed with the Alzheimer's Association as the Account Manager for three different chapters simultaneously. Outside of work she acted as the Treasurer on the Board of Directors for Rutland County Pride.
She is survived by her husband Mitchell, her three sons, Morgan Bard of Winter Park, FL, and Ian and Douglas Bard, both of Ludlow, a sister Allison Brems of LI, NY, and brothers Glen Koehler of LI, NY and Dwight Koehler of Edgewater, Fl, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents. A celebration of her life will be held with family in Florida.
In honor or Leslie's memory, donations can be made to Rutland County Pride, in Rutland, Vt., an organization and cause she cared for deeply.
