Leslie Bartes Obituary
Beloved sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 19, 2025, at Covenant HealthCare–Harrison Campus. She was 69 years old. The daughter of the late Theodore Hospal and Gertrude (Jutzi) Sturm, Leslie was born on July 26, 1955, in Saginaw, Michigan. A proud graduate of Arthur Hill High School, Class of 1973, Leslie spent her life in Saginaw, working as a local bartender for many years and forming countless friendships along the way. Leslie was a member of Christ Lutheran Church and the Pulaski Club, where she enjoyed community, camaraderie, and fellowship. She had a special fondness for animals and was passionate about their welfare, supporting organizations dedicated to their care.
Left to cherish her memory are her sister, Carolyn (John) Douglas of Marrero, Louisiana; her niece, Amy (Paul) Douglas Gay; her great-nieces and great-nephews, Gabrielle, Kathryn, Michael, and Phillip Gay, and Ashlei Douglas; as well as many longtime, dear friends. Leslie was preceded in death by her nephew, Adam Douglas, and her former husband, Steven Bartes; her step-father, Robert Sturm.
In keeping with Leslie's wishes, cremation has taken place. Those who wish to honor her memory may consider a donation to the ASPCA or a local animal shelter of their choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd., Saginaw, Michigan.
