Leslie J. “Ed” Zacherl, 82 of Pinellas Park, FL and formerly of Cambridge Springs, PA, died December 14, 2022 at Northside Hospital, Pinellas Park, FL. He was born in Clarion, PA on May 24, 1940, the son of the late Fred and Grace Zacherl.
Following high school Ed served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He married Elizabeth Hoover who preceded him in death in 2017 after 54 years of marriage.
Ed worked as a press operator for Lord Corporation in Cambridge Springs for over 20 years. He also worked as a butcher at the Golden Dawn there for a number of years. He was a 40+ year member of the Cambridge Springs Volunteer Fire Department. He loved working on his vehicles, watching old western movies and going out to eat.
He was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Cambridge Springs, PA.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Fred Zacherl of Texas; and a sister-in-law, Eileen L. Zacherl of Emlenton.
Survivors include two sons, Chad Zacherl and Luke Zacherl, both currently of Raleigh, NC; a grandson, LtJG (02) Wolfgang Zacherl, stationed currently with the U.S.Coast Guard in San Juan, Puerto Rico; two brothers George "Doug" Zacherl of Emlenton, PA and Daniel “Nick” (Jeanne) Zacherl of West Middlesex; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
The Glunt Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., Edinboro, is in entrusted with burial arrangements.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, June 17, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Cambridge Springs Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Cambridge Springs Volunteer Fire Department, 302 Venango Ave, Cambridge Springs, PA 16403. To send condolences please visit www.gluntfuneralhome.com.
