Leslie Moan Obituary

Leslie "Gene" Moan, age 74, a long-time resident of Rockford, IL passed away at his home on Monday, February 19, 2024.
He was born July 4, 1949, the son of Irvin and LaVon (Hoffman) Moan, and grew-up in Rockford, Ill. He married Sally Schulz June 22,1968 and they had two children, Jacalyn and Scott. Gene was skilled as a machinist and after many years of working at local companies in Rockford, including Circle Boring and Apex Boring he started his own shop. Gene had a passion for the outdoors, boating, fishing, cars, and riding motorcycles; he was an avid NASCAR and Chicago Cubs Fan; he was a former bowler, billiards player, and golfer. He was a longtime member of the LLL Society of Rockford.
Gene was preceded in death by his grandparents; his father, Irvin Moan; his mother, LaVon Moan; his brother, William "Bill" Moan; his sister, Jeanette "Jean" Myers; aunts Linda Leake-Loop and Joan Hoffman; uncle Leroy Hoffman; his brother-in-law, Jerome "Jerry" Myers; his nephews, Allan Moan and Mark Myers; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Gene is survived by his daughter, Jacalyn "Jaci" (Glen) Beavers; his son, Scott Moan; two grandchildren, Ashley (Adam) Larson and Blake Beavers; 2 great grandchildren; his former wife, Sally Todd (Schulz); his sisters, Wanda Lake; Beverly Green (Carl Licke); Mary Shuga; his sister-in-law, Patricia Moan; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 in Greenwood Cemetery. To share a memory or condolence, please visit olsonfh.com
