Leslie G. Moore Leslie G. Moore, 85, of Falconer passed away unexpectedly Sunday (November 30, 2025) in his home. He was born August 22, 1940 in Jamestown, the son of the late Clarence and Elsie Moore. Les attended Southwestern High School and took several courses at JCC. He took 36 Chautauqua County Fire Training Courses, Niagara Mohawk firefighting school, and arson investigation. Les served as Fire Chief for 8 years in the Kennedy Fire Department, served in Frewsburg Fire Department as training officer, captain and assistant fire chief. He was also a member of the Falconer Fire Department before he transferred into Frewsburg Fire Department. Les was 34 year member of the fire service. He was also a member of the NYS Fire Chiefs Association, Chautauqua County Fire Advisory Board. Les was also Civil Defense Director and Constable for the Town of Poland, and served as NYS Fire Warden. Les enjoyed sports, while at Southwestern, he played football, track, and baseball. He also played in the Industrial Basketball and Softball leagues, and semiprofessional football for the Jamestown Dukes. He was a NYS certified football official and officiated many varsity games in Chautauqua and Cattaraugus Counties. Les coached midget football for the North Side Cardinals in Jamestown for six years. He enjoyed watching these young men develop and move into high school football. Les also enjoyed hunting and camping with friends and family. His camp and cabin were home away from home. He loved to go for walks in the woods and watch the wild animals. So peaceful. Always said they are Gods little creatures. Les was employed by Jamestown Laminating Company, Crescent Tool, Lutheran Social Services and Whirley Industries. Les was a great fan of the Boston Celtics, Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Indians. He was a member of the Cleveland Browns Backers of Jamestown, NY. He was also a member of the Carroll Rod & Gun Club and National Rifle Association. After his retirement in 2009 he moved to Huntersville, NC and started a lawn care business. After 13 years he decided to move back home to the Falconer area. In Les's words: "I want to give a special thanks to my daughter Kerry who was my strength in my life. She is God's gift from Heaven. To my son Randy, who fought a hard battle but didn't make it. God be with you my son. Thanks to my friends from grade school and high school. My many friends from the fire service, we were a team. I enjoyed working with the new members in the fire service. It was fun watching them excel and become strong members. Together and through hard work, we built a strong respected fire department. I pray that God bless and watch over the Kennedy Fire Department and keep them safe. Surviving is his daughter Kerry Duever and her husband Scott; granddaughters: Madeline and Emily Duever, Cassie Moore; great grandson Andrew Moore; nephew Scott Brown, nieces: Lynn Silk, Elaine Eddy and Pam Alvarez. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his son Randy Scott Moore, his step father Henning "Ike" Nelson, his brother Donald Moore, his sister Lois Chaney; nephew Todd Chaney and his little pug Pugsley Moore, his # 1 pupper. To a good friend who was a great parent to his daughter. He loved his 'camp' and the painting I gave him in 'thanks' for being a great friend to my (deceased) husband and I. Respectfully, Dr. J. Smith
