Maria Christina "Tina" Liuzzo
Maria Christina "Tina" Liuzzo passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family on January 9th, 2026. She was 64.
Tina was born in Jamestown, NY on May 8th, 1961, to the late Berit (Carlsson) and Wallace Turnquist. She was the youngest of five children and enjoyed summering at her family cottage in Filipstad, Sweden.
Tina was a 1979 graduate of Southwestern High School and received an associate degree from Jamestown Community College, where she especially enjoyed participating in theatre and music programs. She worked at the former Pearl City Paint & Glass Company and as a nanny until she met her husband, Andrew R. Liuzzo of Jamestown, NY, whom she married on October 3, 1987. Together, they ran Yankee Painter & Wallpapering until 2000. Most recently, Tina worked for Edward Jones Investments as an office administrator where she became a partner, led leadership committees and received many service recognitions before her retirement in 2024.
Christina will be remembered for her brilliant blue eyes and beautiful smile. She will be remembered for her boisterous laugh and love of reading, traveling, nature and music. She will be remembered for her devotion to family, and for her love of her Swedish heritage and the joy of sharing customs and traditions with her children and grandchildren. She will be remembered for her steadfast faith and "strong-like-bull" attitude. Tina was an incredible baker and cook and loved to have her family together at her house for Sunday dinners, holidays and summer gatherings in her beautiful backyard full of trees and flowers.
She will be forever loved and missed by her husband, Andrew; their five children: Carl (Kelsey) Liuzzo of Ashville, NY; Vincent (Emma) Liuzzo of Ellicott, NY; Andrew E. Liuzzo of Jamestown, NY; Thomas (Madelaine) Liuzzo of Jamestown, NY; and Maria (Jacob) Andriaccio of Ashville, NY; a stepson, Joe (Tania) Liuzzo of Jacksonville, FL; nine grandchildren: Josephine, Archer, Salvatore and Michael Liuzzo (Vincent and Emma); Andrew Gregory Liuzzo (Carl and Kelsey); Luisa Andriaccio (Maria and Jacob); Jozsef Liuzzo (Thomas and Madelaine) and Ava and Jack Liuzzo (Joe and Tania); her siblings: Rick (Susan) Turnquist, Petter Turnquist, Elisabeth (Tom) Rankin and Michael Turnquist; as well as many dear nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.
In addition to her parents, Tina is preceded in death by her parents-in-law Giuseppe and Josephine Liuzzo.
Her family will receive visitors at Powers, Present & Sixbey Funeral Home, 316 E. 5th Street, Jamestown, NY, on Thursday, January 15th from 4PM to 7PM. Private interment will take place at the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery of St. James Roman Catholic Church.
