Barbara J. Johnson, 92, formerly of Shadyside Avenue, Lakewood, N.Y., passed away on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at Heritage Village Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility, Gerry, N.Y. Barb was born on December 7, 1933, the daughter of the late Ellis and Eleanor Comstock Soudan. Barb graduated from Chautauqua High School in 1952. She earned an associate's degree in ceramics at the School for American Craftsmen, Rochester Institute of Technology. Barb was a longtime member of First Lutheran Church, the Women's Group in Ashville, and North Harmony Senior Citizens. Barb was an avid woodworker and enjoyed making various projects, which were often given as gifts. She was a seamstress for many years and worked for Sears for 15 years. Barb loved her family and she enjoyed spending time with them, especially watching over her grandchildren. Barb was like a Jill of all trades. In addition to her parents, Barb is preceded in death by her husband, Charles M. Johnson; a son: Ryne Johnson and a sister: Virginia Soudan (4-year-old child). Family suggests memorial contributions to First Lutheran Church, 120 Chandler Street, Jamestown, N.Y. 14701. Barb is survived by two sons: Barry M. (Lori) Johnson of Statesboro, GA and Christian S. Johnson of Niobe, N.Y.; a daughter: Mary Jane (Mike) Bowman of Hemlock, N.Y.; a daughter-in-law: Brenda Johnson of Ashville, N.Y.; seven grandchildren: Zachary (Leah) Johnson, Brent (Taylor) Johnson, Gregory (Mara) Johnson, Justin Johnson, Alyssa Johnson, Nicole Johnson (Cordelia Gertz), and Alexandria (Jordan) Simsick, and fifteen great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at Powers, Present & Sixbey Funeral Home, 316 E. 5th Street, Jamestown, N.Y. on Saturday from11AM- 1PM. A funeral service will be held there at 1PM.
