Larry G. Vander Schaaff

Larry G. Vander Schaaff, 77, of Raymond Avenue, Corry, PA, passed away on Saturday, December 13, 2025 at Corry Hospital. Larry was born on September 1, 1948 in Corry, PA, the son of the late Gilbert L. and Virginia A. Price Vander Schaaff. Larry graduated from Clymer High School in 1967 and two years of college at Jamestown Community College. Larry served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam Era. He played on the U.S. All Star Basketball team on the Austrian and German Olympic team in Bremerhaven, Germany. He worked at Corry Manufacturing for 23 years, RM Kerner Company, Corry and Oil City Post Offices for twenty years. Larry was a former member of Abbe Reformed Church, VFW Post# 264, Clymer Fire Department EMT 3 and Ski Patrol for Peek N Peak for 15 years. Larry was an avid softball player, he played softball for Southern Erie County League (S.E.C.L), Peek N Peak and Bee's Steakhouse. He enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, skiing and traveling. He enjoyed spending time with family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Larry is preceded in death by his brother: Curt B. Vander Schaaff and a great-grandson: Bryson Mealy. Larry is survived by his wife, Sharon Walburn Vander Schaaff, whom he married on September 9, 2000 in Clymer, N.Y.; two sons: Greg A. Vander Schaaff of Corry, PA, Lars A. Vander Schaaff of Clymer, N.Y.; a daughter: Joy C. (Rich) Williams of Corry, PA; two bonus sons: Shaun (Jamie) Mealy of Corry, PA and Nick Mealy and a bonus daughter: Crystal (Eric) Precha of Ashtabula, OH; a brother: Randy (Ida) Vander Schaaff of Corry, PA; a sister: Gail (Ron) Dean of Syracuse, N.Y.; a sister-in-law: Linda Vander Schaaff of Corry, PA; twelve grandchildren: Ryleigh, Trent and Levi Williams, Fisal and Sarah Vander Schaaff, Kayle, Anthony, Tyara and Keith Mealy, Deja, Marquise and Darnell Precha, three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A celebration will be held at a later date. A graveside service will be held in the spring.
