Lester Leon Barnett, age 77, of Michigan City, IN passed away on Sunday, October 19, 2025. He was born on September 28, 1948 in Knox, IN to Lester Barnett and Mary (Webb) Schwartz who have both preceded him in death. Lester is survived by his wife, Sandra (Sutton) Barnett; his children, Madison Barnett, Theresa (Chris) Rymer and Julie (Octavio) Luz; bonus children, Pepper Bajza, Jon Derbigny III, and Drew Cibak; his grandchildren, Ryker, Colton, Andrew, Angelo and Jared; several great-grandchildren; great-aunt, Hazel Hamlet; brother-in-law, Jim Mickow; and sister-in-law, Carolyn Schwartz. He is also preceded in death by his daughter, Baby Donna Barnett; and his siblings, Maryed (Jim) McCune, Anita Mickow, Gary Schwartz, Dennis Allen, and Vicki (Dennis) Chambers. Lester dedicated 49 years of his life to Bethlehem Steel, now known as Cleveland-Cliffs. He found joy in the outdoors, especially deer hunting, and took pride in his remarkable collection of guns and, more recently, bows. No matter the season or the weather, he loved to be out fishing. He was also an avid pool player, with a special love for 8-ball, and spent many years playing in local leagues. He raised horses and found happiness in simple moments shared with his children, grandchildren, and family. He was a proud U.S. Army veteran and a loyal member of the DAV, VFW, and American Legion, carrying his sense of honor and service throughout his life. Expressions of sympathy are kindly appreciated and may be made in Lester's honor directly to the family to help with end-of-life expenses. Friends may visit with the family at Geisen-Carlisle Funeral Home, located at 613 Washington St., Michigan City, IN on Wednesday, October 29, 2025 from 12:00 pm until the time of Military Honors at 2:00 pm and service to immediately follow with Pastor Terry McKinney, officiating.
