Lester Kenneth Behrman, 97, of Westport, passed away at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, June 9, 2025, at Columbus Regional Hospital. He was born on March 31, 1928, in Bartholomew County, Indiana the son of Franklin & Selma (Langebarke) Behrman. He was born and raised in Bartholomew County and has been a resident of Westport since 1955. Lester graduated from Columbus High School in 1946 and served in the Indiana National Guard. He retired from Cummins Engine Company in 1983. He was a member of the Sardinia Baptist Church, Bethel Baptist Church, North Vernon Masonic Lodge #59 F&AM and Order of the Eastern Star North Vernon Chapter 183 where he served as a former Worthy Patron. Lester enjoyed farming. He married Nancy L. Boyd on June 24, 1949, at Bethel Baptist Church. She preceded him in death on August 27, 2009. He is survived by his daughters, Resa Rudolph of Seymour and Kyra Behrman of Columbus; his son, Eric (Sharon) Behrman of Bloomington; a sister, Marjorie (Kenneth) Vogt of Columbus; 2 grandchildren, Andrea Rudolph and Brian Behrman; 2 step-grandchildren, Damita Rudolph and Denisa Rudolph; and 4 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Nancy; brothers, Ralph, Melvin, Harold and Victor Behrman; his son-in-law, Donald Rudolph and his granddaughter, Jill Behrman. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport. Rev. Tom Rust will be officiating. Burial will follow at Bear Creek Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held on Saturday, June 14, from 12:00 P.M. until time of service at 2:00 P.M. Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to Sardinia Baptist Church, Westport Volunteer Fire Department or donor's choice.
