Lester Rae Bendler, 69, of Marysville, passed away Tuesday, January 28, 2025 at Mt. Carmel St. Ann’s Hospital in Columbus, following a year long, hard fought battle with cancer.

Rae proudly served his country in the United States Army during Vietnam. A longtime truck driver, he truly enjoyed the 10 years he drove for Brooks and Dunn on their tours. He had a deep love for his family and enjoyed singing and playing the guitar.

Born March 31, 1955 in Marysville, he was the son of the late Lester T. and Ida Mae (Conrad) Bendler. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a daughter, Marilyn Bendler, his sisters, Carolyn Sams and Marilyn Bendler; stepsisters, Patty Morse and Kathryn Bolenbaugh; and his stepbrothers, Michael McCarty, Harold Bendler, Larry Bendler and Charles Bendler.

On August 5, 2024 in Marysville, he married Melinda (Slagle) Bendler, and she survives in Marysville. He is also survived by his daughter, Ida Gardner of Westerville; a stepdaughter, Mindy (Jeffrey) Slagle of Delaware; a stepson, Michael (Tina) Browning, II of Cardington; grandchildren, Christopher (Kirsten) Santillan, Dillon (Zaylee) Santillan, Elizabeth Santillan, Isaiah Bendler, Jeremiah (Kenzi) Bendler, Gabriel Bendler, Cloey Browning, Michael Browning, and Savannah Cline; great grandchildren, Isabella, Auggie, Simon, Domenick, Elaina, Raelynn and MJ; a sister, Sharon Williams of Indianapolis, IN; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

In keeping with Rae’s wishes, no calling hours or services will be observed at this time. A service to celebrate his life is being planned and will be held at a later date.
