Lester Britcher Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by David M. Myers Funeral & Cremation - Newport on May 22, 2025.
Honoring the life of Lester E. Britcher Jr. (1953-2025)
Lester E. Britcher Jr., a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on Thursday, May 22 in Hershey, Pa.
Les was born in Newport, Pa. on December 1, 1953 to parents Lester E. Britcher and Martha (Whitekettle). He graduated from Newport High School in 1973 and later received his associate's degree from Harrisburg Area Community College. Les worked at AMP Incorporated and Tyco Electronics for over 35 years, building comp-u-sertors and other electronics.
While attending Newport High School, he met the love of his life, Vickie (Morrow). From the Sophomore Tea through the final moments of his life, Les and Vickie were inseparable. They built a beautiful life together full of laughter and love.
Being a parent was one of his most fulfilling accomplishments and he was the proud father of Melissa and Matthew. From playing catch to tinkering around in the woodshop to going to concerts, his children will cherish the many memories of time well spent with their father.
As much as Les loved being a father, he absolutely adored being a grandfather, or PopPop, to Charlotte. Her giggles filled his heart with joy.
Les enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, classic cars, music, football, and much more. He was also a lifetime member of the Newport Social Order of Owls. It is nearly impossible to sum up the total of a man's life in just a few words. Despite any hard exterior, he was at his very core, a loving and loyal man who took pride in everything that he did and the family that he helped to build.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 48 years, Vickie; his children, Melissa (Christian) Shaffmaster and Matthew; granddaughter, Charlotte; sister, Frances (Randy) Schmick; and brother, Michael.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers Boyd and Donald.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, May 30 from 6-8 p.m. at the -Newport Family Life Center, 27 West Shortcut Road, Newport, Pa. Services begin at 6:30 p.m.
