Lester Wayne Larrew

Lester Wayne Larrew, 89, of Columbus, GA passed away on Saturday, December 23, 2023 at his residence. A memorial service will be held at Vance Brooks Funeral Home, 4048 Macon Road, Columbus, GA on Saturday, December 30, 2023 beginning at 3:00pm with Reverend Mike Turner officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
Lester was born on March 7, 1934 in Arkansas City, KS to the late William Marvin Larrew and Laura Dale Price. He served in the United States Army for 22 years and was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars, for which he received two Bronze Stars. After his retirement from the Army, Lester started Werral Enterprises where he was a bookkeeper. In his free time, Lester enjoyed building model trains and railroads.
Other than his parents, Lester is preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Yasuko Larrew (Araki), wife of 6 years, Susan Larrew (Geist), brother Fred Larrew, and grandson John Wesley Larrew.
Survivors include his son Lee Larrew and his wife Sheila of South Carolina; son Cliff Larrew and his wife Jonette of Villa Rica, Georgia; sister Leta Renich and her husband Waldo of Maryland; grandchildren Stephen Larrew, Joseph Larrew, Constance Billman, Andrew Larrew, Daniel Larrew, Faith Larrew, Dr. Thomas Larrew, and Lisa Larrew; great-grandchildren Eliana Billman, Emma Larrew, Julian Billman, Cyrus Larrew, Liza Jane Larrew, Gwenyth Larrew, and Layna May Larrew; and many loving friends.
"Dad was honest, merciful, and generous; He was an amazing man. He cared so much about people.
He considered everyone as his friend. He loved everyone, no matter what you looked like. He would give you the shirt off his back if he thought you needed it."
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Fairview Baptist Church.
