Lester Franklin Williams, 81, of Chunky, Mississippi, passed away on May 12, 2025 at Brookdale in Meridian, Mississippi.
Born in Boston, Massachusetts on February 27, 1944, Lester attended Byram high school . Lester began his career as an electrician at Stuart Irby, thereafter he spent over 50 years as a master electrician owning Lester Electric and held the contract for UMC Medical Center for 20 years until his retirement . He was known for his expertise, attention to detail and dedication to his business. Lester was a gun collector, expert marksman, avid reader, hunter, excellent cook and animal lover. He especially loved dogs and squirrels. He once took his squirrels on a trip to Sedona, Arizona. He also enjoyed a ride in the country in his convertible. He was a jovial person known to be the life of the party.
Lester was preceded in death by his father, Verne Williams , mother, Alice Williams, brother, Mark Williams and great granddaughter , Lundyn Thompson. He is survived by his wife, Elsie, children, Michele Smith of Brandon , Candace Phillips (Monie) of Navarre, Florida, Mary Alice Reid of Monticello, siblings , Dr. Brad Williams of Nashville, Tn, Billy Williams (Ann) of Florence, Anne Gibson (George) of Byram, stepchildren, Randy Diveley (Angela) of Meridian , Bobby Diveley (Susie) , his grandchildren: Anna, Landon, Presley, Kelsie, Monie and great grandchildren Kynslee, AJ, Cameron, Khristian, Paislee, Asher Blaze and many beloved nieces and nephews .
Lester will be remembered for his zest for life, quick wit, hard work, integrity, the right to bare arms and love of family and animals. His laughter and wisdom were gifts to everyone who knew him. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a local animal rescue or shelter.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Webb & Stephens funeral home in Meridian, Mississippi. Visitation will be held at Concord Methodist Church in Enterprise, Mississippi on Wednesday, May 14 from 12:00-1:00 p.m. with Funeral service and graveside burial to follow.
