Leta Ann Awtry

Leta Ann Awtry of Daingerfield, TX, died Friday, July 19, 2011. She was born in Daingerfield, TX, on September 15, 1942, the daughter of the late Howard and Allie Rea Awtry. She was preceded in death by her husband of 22 years, Frances "Jake" Bion Jacobs, her son Joseph Charles Awtry and brother Wayne Awtry.
Ms. Awtry was a member of the Daingerfield Church of Christ. She was a graduate of the University of Arkansas. She was retired from General Electric after a long and successful career.
She loved reading and also compiling family history. Before returning to her birthplace in Texas, she volunteered with various charitable organizations.
Surviving family: brother, Ted A. Awtry (Cheryl, deceased), and one sister-in-law, Thelma Awtry (Wayne, deceased) both of Daingerfield, TX. Two nieces, Sharon L. Awtry of Salem, AL and Taresa Awtry Long (Lee) of Linden, TX. Three nephews, Thomas H. Awtry (Paula) of Mansfield, TX, and Jerry Wayne Awtry and H. James Awtry both of Daingerfield, TX.
At a later time, a memorial service will be held at graveside for immediate family members only. Services have been entrusted to Horn-Nail-Haggard Funeral Home of Daingerfield.
The family request that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
