Leta Mae Higgins

Leta Mae Higgins, 92, of Latham, MO passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2026 at Tipton Oak Manor in Tipton, MO. She was born on May 9, 1933 in New Bloomfield, MO the daughter of James "Dewey" Maharg and Eva Elizabeth (Stone) Maharg both of who preceded her in death. She was a graduate of Tipton High School. She was united in marriage on December 24, 1950 in Latham, MO to William "Willie" Higgins who preceded her in death on March 23, 2004. She went on to work for Chesebrough Pond's, CAL's Thriftway and Gerbes. Leta Mae was a member of Green Grove Baptist Church. She enjoyed watching her grandkids and taking them camping, quilting, ceramics, traveling and cooking for her family on Saturday mornings. Leta Mae is survived by 1 daughter, Elaine Cook of Latham, MO;

5 son's, Jerry Higgins of Latham, MO, Keith Higgins (Terry) of California, MO, Dennis Higgins (Elaine) of Clarksburg, MO, Larry Higgins (Michele) of Latham, MO and Phillip Higgins (Pat) of Tipton, MO; 28 grandchildren;

41 great grandchildren and 16 great-great grandchildren; 3 sisters, Ann Marie Bowles of Raytown, MO, Shirley Brown of Versailles, MO and Marilyn Barnhart of New York. She was preceded in death by 1 brother and 4 sisters. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 9, 2026 from 4-7 P.M. at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 10, 2026 at 10:30 A.M. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Green Grove Cemetery near Latham. Officiating will be Rev. Earl Fuller. Memorials are suggested to the Missouri Baptist Children's Home c/o the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services of California, MO.
