Letitia Ellen Lam

Letitia Ellen Lam, 88, of Bridgewater, VA passed away on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at Bridgewater Retirement Community, where she was a resident since June 2024.
Tish was born on March 11, 1937 in Rockingham County, Virginia and was the daughter of the late Everette R. and Inez Good Lam. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Tish grew up in McGaheysville and was a graduate of Montevideo High School. She continued her education, graduating from Madison College, now James Madison University, and receiving her master's degree from the University of Wisconsin. She was a librarian at Washington and Lee High School, retiring from Arlington Public Schools after 35 years of service. After retirement, she moved back to the Valley to be close to her family. She was a member of the Bridgewater United Methodist Church. Tish loved reading, especially the Sunday edition of The Washington Post, traveling, and playing bingo. Most days, she would be dining out with friends or family and would frequently stop by Wildwood Park in Bridgewater, taking in the scenery and feeding the ducks. Over the years, she generously supported many charitable organizations and causes that were important to her.
Surviving family members include two nieces, Jennifer Harris and husband, Benny, and Lisa Armstrong and husband, David; four nephews, David Gochenour and wife, Donna, Chuck Lam and wife, Cindy, Joe Lam and wife, Jo Ellen, and Danny Gochenour and wife, Sherry; and numerous great nieces and nephews, who were all very special to her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth F. Lam; two sisters, Ailee L. Gochenour and Dorothy "Dottie" Lam; nephews, Rick Lam and Tommy Gochenour.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, December 21, 2025, at Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg with Pastor Mary Dadisman officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
Burial will be private at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in McGaheysville.
