Lewis “Butch” Cochran, Jr., of Danielsville, Georgia, passed away peacefully at his home on November 10, 2025. He was born in Athens, Georgia, and raised in Center. Since 1975, Butch made his home on a farm north of Danielsville, where he built a life grounded in faith, family, and the land he loved.
Butch worked as a factory worker for over 40 years, but he was a cattleman at heart. He loved a good cow, goat, or horse sale and always kept up with the livestock market. He had a deep affection for cattle, dogs, and any unique animal that crossed his path.
A devoted follower of Christ, Butch’s faith guided every part of his life. A loyal husband, father, and friend, he was known for his steady presence, good humor, and generous spirit. He loved a good story, could tell one better than most, and had the rare gift of being able to talk to anyone about anything. Above all, he loved one woman faithfully for more than 50 years and built a full life with her by his side.
Butch deeply loved his grandchildren and took joy in being part of their daily lives. He was there for school drop-offs and pick-ups, shared in their everyday moments, and cherished every chance to be with them.
He is survived by his loving wife, Gail; his son, Will, and wife, Elizabeth (Jerome), along with their children Emma, Sophie, and Kytle, all of Danielsville; his daughter, Marci, and husband, Matt Wooster, along with their daughters, Ruby and Clara of Kansas; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends who were like family.
Butch’s life was a testimony to faith, family, and friendship. His legacy will live on in the stories he told, the love he shared, and the example he set for all who knew him. Cheerful in all weathers, never sherked a task. Splendid behavior.
Family will receive visitors at Trinity Baptist Church, Danielsville, GA on Thursday, November 13th from 5:30pm-6:30pm. Service to immediately follow.
