Mr. Lewis Ray "Butch" Lane, 81, the husband of Mabel Rhodus Lane, passed away Monday evening at Baptist Health-Richmond.
Butch was born on March 25, 1944, one of ten children born to the late Paul Mason Lane Sr. and Frances Shaw Lane. He was a retired builder who had an excellent reptuation as being one the best and most sought after home builders in this area. Butch was a hard worker who loved and provided for his family. He was a graduate of Madison High School and a member of The Broadway Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife Mabel; two daughters: Beth Campbell (Buzzy) and Becky Friend (John); one brother: Don Lane; four grandchildren: Peyton Goodwin (Clint), Morgan Campbell, Logan Oliver (Skylar) and Lauryn Campbell; six great-grandchildren: Scarlett Oliver, C.J., Colton, Kylee and Luke Goodwin and Zoey Friend as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by four brothers: Paul Lane Jr., Harold Lane, William "Tittle" Lane and Marion Lane; four sisters: Willie Mae Hatton, Evelyn Jarrett, Barbara Rader and Mary Lane.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, November 6, 2025, at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home with Pastor Malcolm Hester, officiating. Burial will follow at Madison Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM Thursday morning at the funeral home.
Pallbearers are Logan Oliver, Buzzy Campbell, John Friend, Tommy Goucher, Cint Goodwin, C. J. Goodwin and Colton Goodwin.
Honorary Pallbearers will be the remaining grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
