Wilma Jenkins Poynter

Mrs. Wilma Doris Jenkins Poynter, 82, of Richmond, passed away on Saturday evening, November 8, 2025 at Baptist Health – Lexington.
She was born in Madison County, Kentucky on February 26, 1943, on East Kentucky Avenue. Mrs. Poynter worked for Square D, as well as Kmart for several years and was also the custodian for Madison Hills Christian Church.
Mrs. Poynter was quite the social butterfly and never met a stranger. She was a good hearted person who loved animals and people and looked forward to spending time with her family and friends. She was a long time member of the Calvary Baptist Church.
Survivors include: her children, Mark A. Poynter (Julia) & Sharon A. Poynter; one brother, Marvin Jenkins (Nora Ruth); one sister, Gail Duvall (Jeff); her grandchildren, Spencer Alyse Poynter Collado (Jonathan), and Kellis Allen Poynter (Mary Proctor), and a special "bonus grandchild", Matthew Carey (Emily); one great-grandchild, Maidali Collado; as well as a host of other extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by: her husband of 53 years, George Poynter; her father, Thomas T. Jenkins; her mother, Agnes Wells Jenkins Good; and her step-father, Allen Dunn "Slim" Good.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Saturday, November 15, 2025, at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home, W. Main St., Richmond, with Bro. Bobby Greene & Rev. Vaughn Rasor officiating. Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6-9 PM Friday, at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be: Spencer Poynter Collado, Jonathan Collado, Kellis Poynter, Mary Proctor, Matthew Carey, Zach Carey, Zachary Picklesimer-Mullins, Tuck Bratcher & Charles Bratcher.
Honorary Pallbearers will be: Emily Miller Carey, Dianne Picklesimer & Kristie Bratcher.
The family would like to especially thank the nurses & staff at The Terrace Nursing & Rehabilitation in Berea for their care of Mrs. Poynter.
