The obituary of Louis Davis Rivers, Jr.
In the evening hours of Sunday, August 31, 2025, the Lord reached out his hand and said come home my son and took Louis to his heavenly home. Louis was born April 5, 1958 in Chesterfield County, SC at the Perry Clinic to Louis Davis Rivers, Sr. and Nina Gertrude Morris Rivers. Louis was raised on Pleasant Acres Farm. He was a lifelong member of Friendship United Methodist Church.
The funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM Saturday, September 6, 2025 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home Chapel officiated by the Honorable Rep. Pastor Richie Yow, Eddie Curry, and Brent Taylor with burial to follow in the Pleasant Acres Cemetery, (intersection of hwy. 742 & Davis Rivers Road) Chesterfield, SC. The family will greet friends from 3:00 – 4:00 PM Saturday, prior to the service at the funeral home. In accordance with Mr. Louis' wishes, the family requests that guests wear casual attire.
Louis was a 1976 graduate of Chesterfield High School where he ran track and played Clarinet in the band. He also attended Chesterfield Marlboro Technical College (NETC) where he studied electricity. Louis worked many years for his father at Davis Rivers and Sons service station. He later worked as an electrician at Wansona Manufacturing in Wadesboro NC. In the years leading up to his cancer, he enjoyed growing and selling produce with his partner Hubert Ralph Jacobs and for a short time operated the Korner Produce stand. He enjoyed farming, hunting, fishing and his time spent outside on his tractor. He married Donna in 1981 and made their home in Chesterfield where they raised three sons.
Louis was known to be a jokester and prankster. He was a Citizens Band Radio operator where he was known to his friends as 289 Crankshaft. He also held a Ham Radio license with the call sign of KJ4ROE. The friends he met over the years of talking on the radio helped him through his years of cancer, supporting him with prayers, fellowship and a camaraderie that only they can share.
Louis was preceded in death by his parents, Louis Davis Rivers, Sr. and Nina Gertrude Morris Rivers; his in-laws, Aaron Charles Oliver and Birty Lee Smith Oliver; brothers-in-law, Larry Ray Crawley, Charles Everett Oliver, Hugh Pusser, and Johnny Williams; sister-in-law, Robin Spencer Oliver; and his loving fur babies, Princess, Molly, and Bella.
