Lewis Don Wilson, 80, of St. Marys, WV, departed this earth early morning on September 13, 2025, at Marietta Memorial Hospital, missing the first day of squirrel season. Born on November 5th, 1944, and growing up in Harrisville, WV, he spent many years enjoying hunting, fishing, berry picking, and spending time at his camp in Berea, WV. He was one of the founding members of the South Fork Hunting Club, where he continued to create lifelong memories with friends and family since its establishment 55 years ago.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Virginia Donnelly Wilson.

Lewis was a Harrisville High School graduate in 1962 and attended Glenville State College, where he obtained his bachelor's degree. He was drafted into the US Army and served his country in the Vietnam War. He then worked for Nationwide Insurance as an agent for 25 years. After leaving Nationwide, he was an agent for Reagle and Padden in Parkersburg up until his recent retirement last year.

Throughout the years he spent time in membership with the Masonic Lodge, VFW, and St. Marys Elks Lodge.

Being a girl Dad, Lewis had a passion for girls' softball. He started the Ritchie County Ponytail Softball League in 1984. He then followed his daughters throughout their educational years as the assistant coach for high school softball. Once they graduated, he so loved the sport that he continued to coach for many years thereafter. Of course, he was a WVU Mountaineer fan and loved the LA Dodgers.

Lewis is survived by his spouse, Margaret A. Nutter Wilson, whom he married in 1970, and just recently celebrated with her their 55th anniversary. He also left behind his 3 daughters, Rebecca Smith of Daytona Beach, FL, and twins Jennifer (Shane) Kisner and Jessica (Bub Riggs) Wilson of St. Marys, WV. He was a proud grandfather/great-grandfather of Samantha Scadden of St. Marys, WV; Colton Nutt (wife Cassy and daughter Margot Lou) of Fort Worth, TX; Alexandra Sarmiento (husband Camilo and daughters Maia and Talia) of Daytona Beach, FL; Nicholas Riggs of St. Marys, WV; and Sidney Kisner of St. Marys, WV.

To know him was to love him. He never met a person or caregiver that didn't enjoy his wry sense of humor. He was a survivor and overcame many obstacles thrown his way over the years. He is now meeting up with his best buddy Roscoe, his rescue dog that preceded him in death. The family will continue to play the same lottery numbers he has played faithfully every week for the last 50 years.

The family would like to thank all the nurses, doctors, surgeons, and caregivers that took care of him on and off over the past couple of decades, through all his tribulations. Most recently, Amedisys Hospice for their care and commitment to comfort in his final days.

At his request, no funeral services or visitation will be held. He chose cremation and a celebration at a later date for the spreading of his and Roscoe's ashes at the camp in Berea. A headstone in honor of his life and remembrance of his death will be placed at Harrisville IOOF Cemetery.
